Thank you to everyone who emailed to ask if I'd start selling the Book in a Bag kits again. As proof that I was a magpie in a past life, I have a pretty, pretty stash of them that I was saving for some desperate future narrative shortage that only I could have predicted (???), but that's weird, I guess. So, I've decided to sell them instead. When they're gone, they're gone.
Click here to learn more. The kit comes with free access to my online editing workshop, or you can attend my September 7 in-person workshop in Minneapolis for live instruction.

I just turned in my latest manuscript to my publisher, the first in a proposed new series! The series is not Kolchak, though I did watch summa that to celebrate (see photo). I also enjoyed a crisp IPA with my favorite doctored-up pizza (Tombstone, natch; I am a child of the '80s, after all).
I love so much about this book. It's a thriller with a creepy edge; think Tana French meets X Files. My amazing Thomas & Mercer editor, Jessica Tribble, suggested I write it after she read my upcoming short story featuring BCA cold case agent Evangeline Reed and forensic scientist Harry Steinbeck. She wanted more of them, and it turns out, I did too.
The book has a tentative release date of August 2023, and I hope you enjoy reading it even more than I did writing it! (If I'm honest, it was a pain in the ass to write, but writing is like childbirth in that way; once the horror show is over, you forget everything but the baby.)
I'll have lots more to say about Evangeline and Harry in the weeks to come, but in the meanwhile, you can preorder their debut short by clicking here: Catch Her in a Lie.
